Webinar: Tackling Aquatic Invasive Species

Evelyn Webb Williams and Tom Bernthal will join Katie Beilfuss to share how partners at the Pheasant Branch Conservancy are tackling aquatic invasive species with surveys, drones, and soil cores Friday, Jun 2, 2026 at 10:00AM CDT. This talk is part of the Wisconsin Wetlands Association Coffee Break series. Click here to register.
The springs at Pheasant Branch Conservancy provide more than 2.5 million gallons of fresh water to Lake Mendota every day. Those same wetlands filter millions of more gallons of surface water runoff from the Pheasant Branch Creek watershed. During storm events, the Pheasant Branch wetlands receive and hold stormwater, reducing the danger of flooding throughout the Madison lakes. Aquatic invasives impair wetland functions and wildlife diversity.

Evelyn Web Williams is a restoration ecologist with Adaptive Restoration, Llc. She is a restoration ecologist with a background in conservation genetics.
Tom Bernthal is a retire Wisconsin DNR Wetland Monitoring and Assessment Coordinator. Tom has been a leader and active volunteer with the Friends of Pheasant Branch Conservancy for more than a quarter century. He has extensive knowledge of both the flora and fauna of Pheasant branch conservancy; aquatic and terrestrial.
