Chaining (Cabling)

The use of a large cable or chain pulled between two large tractors (usually crawler tractors) to pull down or uproot brush. Chaining uses a large ship anchor chain, with each chain link weighing 80 to 100 pounds. [Source: USDA National Plant Materials Manual]
